I saw a report this morning on free wi-fi in Central Park and several other NYC Parks. The report was on WNBC-TV, but I could find no link to it on their website. I did find several references to the plan from May, including
this one from the NY Times. (You may need to register to follow the link.) I also found this NY Daily News
article, undated, but I think from May.
There is also a group called
NYCwireless who seems to be trying to wire more of the city on a grassroots basis.
Free wi-fi in public areas is a big step towards making the internet ubiquitous and I am in favor of it.
